This exhibit of photos and paintings encourage viewers to “travel” by creating and connecting to their own journeys.
Lois Eliason is an art historian and jewelry designer. She co-founded Post- Accessories in 2006: handmade, one-of-a-kind, and custom jewelry pieces inspired by global arts and traditions. Influenced by recent trips to Trancas, Mexico and London, England, her photographs and small-scale watercolors focus on the concept of color and memory. Unlike traditional travel photography that indicates a specific place, her photos zoom in on unexpected details. The paintings are comprised of multiple layers of color washes. Each is an independent “little landscape”. Seen together, the paintings reflect the color palettes that attracted Lois to the subjects of her photographs.
Jennifer Chilstrom is an artist and arts advocate who works in a variety of media. She is also the co-founder of Showroom and co-owns the women’s clothing brand Kjurek. Her newest series is a photographic collection of landscapes and graffiti art taken over the last decade throughout the country. Messages discovered in unexpected places. Moments in time, capturing the wit and inspiration we strive to feel in our modern world. Her works have always focused on reinventing materials or ‘upcycling’ and contain elements of collage. She often paints on found and/or natural elements. In her youth it was a way to rediscover and preserve the world around her, as an educator, a vital tool for teaching young artists in poverty.
