is the Festival of Lights. The biggest, brightest and most popular of all Indian festivals. Spiritually, it signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
The festival is marked by lighting of traditional earthen diyas (candles) and decorating home entrances with colourful rangoli artwork- patterns created on the floor using coloured rice or powder. During Diwali, families and friends wear new traditional clothing and share sweets and gifts.
