In his newest series Cody focuses on the beauty that life begs us to appreciate, but the inertia of our lives drags us right past. He examines the products involved in fashion; fabric, thread and pattern. Striving to capture the moment when they transcend their physicality and become Art. As the artist, he draws the same inspiration to create but through the act of deconstructing the building blocks of fashion. In the end the work allows the viewer to see the same spark of curiosity and design that could both inspire and transform.
Cody Kiser’s work examines how viewers respond to everyday items that are presented in unfamiliar forms. Cody explores the irrational fears of American consumerism that are thwarted by language and cultural barriers in his vibrant and repetitive paintings. He paints mundane situations as a statement on those barriers. Shelves stocked for the consumer’s needs, showcasing products that are familiar yet foreign. The results are colorful interior landscapes, abstracted by form and light in a place the viewer may not recognize.
