New York Fashion Week in February is the preview of the best season fashion has to offer Fall/Winter. This is the window into what you will see in the pages of those infamous “September Issues” this summer. I have had a chance to scour through some of the shows (there’s hundreds!!) and pick out some of my favorite trends and looks.
Designers (from left) Altuzarra and Alexander Wang
1. Bright Colors and Big Collars: No need to fall into the trap of all black everything with your winter wardrobe, and when it comes to the collar, do not hold back on size!
Designers (from left) Thakoon and 3.1 Phillip Lim
2. Checks and Plaids of all shapes, sizes, and variations were dominant in the prints and garment constructions. I love to see the creativity the designers have with the use of this age old print.
Designers (from left) Veronica Beard and Edun
3. Stripes were another age old fashion mechanism used in a multitude of ways for this season. I love how one presentation the stripes can be used in such a feminine way, and in the next they’re sporty and modern.
Even in this frigid cold I am starting to look forward to next winter! I can’t wait to see what my fellow showroom designers have in store for the coming season, stay tuned!
