Where did you grow up? Why do you choose to call Minnesota home?
I grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I have lived in Minneapolis on and off for the last 5 years. What keeps me coming back is the beautiful summers, co-ops, and progressive nature of our good-old Midwest city.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always sold my various art endeavors and began to sell my yoga pants straight off of my legs. I was tired of having only black and grey yoga pants to wear to class and started to dye my own. My fellow yogis out in Colorado went crazy for them and thus my Etsy site was born.
Where does the name “Metta Body” come from?
Metta means “loving kindness” and is a meditation in Buddhist and Hindupractices. It is important to practice loving kindness towards your own body.
Tell us a little about your design process.
I work out of my kitchen sink and dye every item by hand. I have a vary free flowing process and love to experiment.
When are you the most inspired? What inspires you?
Yoga inspires me. I tend to design and create best after doing my daily practice. I draw ideas from the colors I see around me or desire to be enveloped in.
Name 3 things that you absolutely must have in your workplace.
Natural light, a face mask, and Psych music playing.
Outside of your business at Showroom, do you have any other hobbies?
I consider myself a Renaissance Woman. I am always doing something active, a fiction writer and poet, a painter, a amateur mycologist, a venetian mask-maker, a great cook, an audiophile , a yoga teacher and a yogi.
Whats your favorite way to relax and “get away”?
The beach. Once the weather is warm again I try to go almost everyday.
Where do you hope to see Metta Body 10 years from now?
I hope to expand into a full yoga brand and be my full time job.
