Where did you grow up? Why do you choose to call Minnesota home?
Katie grew up in Minneapolis, left briefly for college and work in Chicago, then returned.
Lois grew up in Southern California, but lived in New Jersey for 10 years, and has been in Minneapolis for 11 years.
Lois met her husband in graduate school, and his job brought them to MN.
How did you two meet and decide to start a business?
We met when Katie enrolled in a graduate studies seminar on Italian Renaissance Sculpture that was led by Lois.
We quickly noticed that we liked/owned the same clothing and makeup, so we became fast friends.
We thought it would be an interesting/fun entrepreneurial exercise to combine our interests and talents, and that led us to co-found Post- Accessories and design our first multi-functional handbag collection called “Bramante” (after the Renaissance sculptor).
Tell us a little about your design process.
Our process starts with lots of conversations about what we’re finding to be on-trend or what we’re currently obsessed with.
After that we start to narrow our focus, which takes a lot of editing of our ideas.
If it’s a handbag we’re design, we usually go through several rounds of prototyping before we call a full round of production.
Most of our jewelry is one-of-a-kind because we use lots of antique and vintage medals that are unique.
When are you the most inspired? What inspires you?
We use art, artists, and artistic movements as the foundation for our inspiration.
It’s a natural outcome of our backgrounds as art historians.
We’re both attracted to interesting color palettes and anything with a sense of individual history; this is perhaps why we’ve become so focused on the antique medals lately. Each medal that comes to us has been on a personal journey which we know very little. That sense of mystery is very powerful.

Whats your favorite way to relax and “get away”?
Sounds super self-indulgent, but we both LOVE going to the spa!! Anything spa-related is awesome.
Where do you see Post- in 10 years?
We’d love to see continued growth of Post- as a brand that is recognized by a wider audience.
We would not limit ourselves to accessories and jewelry, our commitment to superior materials and craftsmanship is always the bottom line, so wherever we’ll be/whatever we do, we know that it will be special, beautiful (at least to us), and finely crafted (never mass-produced).
