First, what is Small Business Saturday, you ask? Well, during this time of year, there’s “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” that help promote big-box retailers and large, national companies. Back in 2010, American Express decided that we needed a special holiday to remember all the great local businesses that have so much to offer buyers during the holidays. Dubed “Small Business Saturday”, this special day has become a great reason to seek-out local businesses that interest you, maybe one you’ve never visited before.
Showroom is the definition of a small, local business, and that is how we prefer it. Comprised of local clothing, jewelry, accessory, skincare and furniture designers, Showroom was recently named as the destination for “Best Minnesota-Made Shopping” by MSP Magazine in their 2013 ‘Best of the Twin Cities’ Issue.
In celebration of Showroom’s first Small Business Saturday, many of the designers will be mingling through the shop during the day. Also providing small snacks and refreshments. The following are examples of some special offers happening on Saturday.
Cocoon by Elizabeth Geisler will be offering 40% off during SBS only.
Lois of Post will be available from 11-1 to work with guests to create your own custom piece of jewelry, including custom -stamped sterling silver pendants and antique charms.
Nicole of Epitome Skincare will be available from 3-5 to chat with you about your skincare needs and Epitome products (and provide tasty treats, she notes).
Frangere will be offering 25% off their beautiful silk scarves during SBS only.
Kjurek plans to offer up to 30% off on SBS only.
If you’re looking for gift ideas, Showroom has everything from on-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry and scarves to luxurious scented candles.
From 5pm-8pm, Showroom will be welcoming Chank Diesel, or the”Traveling Font Salesman”, as our featured artist of the month. Hors’deurves and refreshments will be provided while you mingle, shop and view works by the artist. Chank is both a painter and a noted typographer who has been featured on multiple album covers and as an “important example of contemporary typography” by Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
Don’t miss-out on all the fun happening this Saturday, November 30th, at Showroom!
