This time of year can be a little hectic, so Saturdays I usually try to spice things up by attending some fun events between those pesky weekend errands. So grab your BFF and head out for a fun afternoon adventure!
As a very passionate and devoted coffee lover (as proven by the quadruple expresso I currently sip), I was so excited to hear about the 24th annual Uptown Coffee Festival! Housed inside Calhoun Square will be all sorts of caffeinated brews to sample from 35+ vendors and even some coffee-infused beer from Republic! Bull Run is hosting a “Barista Challenge” where you can see local baristas compete to brew the best cappuccino! Even Comedy Sportz (housed inside Calhoun Square) has found a way to get involved by performing a Caffeinated Comedy Show at 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m!
The Coffee Festival runs from 10am to 3pm and costs $10 to attend (some proceeds for charity).
After you’ve been thoroughly pumped up, you’ll have plenty of time to do a little holiday shopping. Stop into the Textile Center of Minneapolis and peruse their annual Holiday Gallery Shop! The Textile Center is a hub for talented fiber artists both locally and nationally. While they always have a shop there, during the window of November 1st through December 28th, the center gathers together over 100 local and international artists to offer “wearables, accessories, home decor and seasonal gifts in a wide variety of techniques.” Last time I stopped in I purchased a great set of one-of-a-kind hand-felted coasters that I plan to give as a hostess-gift next week. There are all sorts of unique gift ideas flowing out of this shop! Showroom designers Tessa Louise and Kjurek are also offering a selection of pieces that are ideal for gift-giving through the shop.
The Holiday Shop is open until 7pm on Saturdays!
